Dashboard illumination lights burnt out
Dashboard illumination lights burnt out
Hi, two of the buttons on my dashboard, (air circulation and air conditioning button) no longer light up at night time when I turn my headlights on. I took the car to Honda and they told me that the bulbs behind the buttons are burnt out. They said it would cost me $50 to have new ones installed (including labour), I believe it was $20 for the bulbs and $30 for labour. Does anyone know if I can get these bulbs for cheaper or even if i get the bulbs for $20, can someone tell me how to install them? I ordered the bulbs, so I need to know fast if I should cancial the order. I have a 2005 Civic SI (candian, non-hatchback). Thanks a lot!

i got some replacements from the dealer for a couple bucks each. and install is as easy as pulling out the center panel and replacing em. they come with the base so you twist off the old and twist on the new.
Actually they are only $10 each and the install is $40...Now, I gotta think of a way to convince them that another dealership sold them for a couple bux each! Does anyone have any link to how to take out the center console step by step? Thanks.
Nevermind, I found a headunit install DIY, I believe that should help me accomplish what I'm trying to do. Thanks a lot!

thats honda for you. lemme see if i can find them. #12 in the pic. there are two of these in the ac/recirc/defrost piece. if you dont have anything lighting up, you need two. otherwise just get one. list price is $3. that is the absolute maximum any dealer can charge unless they are scamming you.
I paid $9.82 for the bulb!! I didn't know what I could have said to get it cheaper because I couldn't find the bulb at Canadian Tire or Lordco. I installed it myself though, at least I saved about 45 bucks (including tax). Thanks a lot guys!
The warrenty on all the bulbs in the car is only 1 year...(thats what I was told)...Also, I replaced that bulb about a month ago and it has already burnt out again!! But this time they gave me a replacement for free. The worst part is having to take the center console apart again to replace it!
