need suggestions for new mp3 player
Well I've decided to give up on the alpine I've owned for about a year. It is too picky with mp3 cds and will skip no matter what I do. I've tried different software, different brand cds, new songs, doesn't matter. and each time it happens its different. before it would skip at the end, now its at the beginning, some cd doesnt skip, others do that i made the exact same time. Its stupid really. i even sent it for repair, they said it was working fine. whatever.
well i need a new deck that plays mp3. my problem is i want something that looks good. The alpine was so good in this area both at night and during the day. For day i want something that looks pretty black and stock, at night i need something with amber/white light. I know its been really hard to find something like this, so if anyone knows of one, please post it up. heres my old deck...i love how it looks, but that is useless if i cant even listen to mp3 with it.
okay update, well i tried to make a cd with the last brand i havent tried, TDK. and it seems like it worked. So far it has not skipped at all at the start of each track like before. so we'll see. im still using nero too so it looks like tdk may be the only one that works. i tried philips, sony, imation, memorex, and a couple other off brands they all skipped at various places and times.

What model of Alpine do you have? Is it iPod compatible?
If so, buy and iPod instead of the deck, and use the direct connect module. Not only will you have a way to play your MP3s, but you will also have a new iPod that you can use other places like the gym, and you won't have to burn MP3 discs.

yea, its really hard to match decks with the dash.
I put in a Sony CDX-GT500 Deck in thinking it would match the 04 coupe cluster, but it doesnt. Its too deep in red, now im stuck with it, bahhhhh
get a screen, then you can choose w/e colour you want

hmm ya thats a good point. so far ive been listening alot and not one skip. so i think i found a working brand and software. if something happens tho im looking into getting a screen.
My next deck will have support for compact flash cards. There are some that support USB thumb drives but I'm not overly thrilled over having a thumb drive sticking straight out of my deck.
Reasons I like memory cards:
But.. since I'm currently unemployed and my current MP3 CD deck is 1.5 years old... it's gonna be another year or more before I get one.
Reasons I like memory cards:
- 1GB cards are fairly cheap
- it's easy to change what songs you have on them
- they require no moving parts on your deck (less wear/tear and heat)
- access times are WAY faster than CDs (shorter loading times on insert)
- they don't SCRATCH
