K swap shifter cables

I have read that the em2 shifter will work for the swap, so why won't the shifter cables work also? I currently have my rsx 5spd trans disassembled because I am installing a quaife lsd. I closely compared the trans cable mount and trans shifter assembly. The d17 cable retainer clips and cables look like they will fit the k20 cable bracket, the pins on the d17 trans shifter look the same as the k20. Have any of you swappers tried this? Can anyone give a specific reason why they will not work?

i thought it was because the transmission is now on the drivers side. the d17 cables are probably too short or too long.

I wasn't talking about the shifter box. I was talking about the clips, bracket, and shifting lever on the transmission. All the stuff under the hood looks the same. The cables exit the cabin at the center of the chasis, so why would they be to short or long. They're just going left instead or right, not further. Even if they had to stretch a few extra inches, there is enough slack to make the difference. I think the key will be the distance between the cable bracket (on the trans) and the shift lever (on the trans). I'll measure and take a closer look later today.

trust me.. i have tried using the d17 cables and they are way to short.. unless you wanna go in and modify it urself then i suggest you just spend the few extra bucks just to change out the cables

If you say so. I just wanted to here it from somebody who has been there. It's not so much a matter of money, more a matter of finding someone with cables for sale.

I wanted to here from someone who has done the swap, and Xproductions answered. I have read his diy many times and continuously refer back to it. It does not say why the em2 shifter cables won't work. You should have thrown your 2 cents in a wishing well instead of this thread.
