Civic SE Head Unit
Civic SE Head Unit
I'm interested in buying one sometime soon and would like to know if you guys have a link to a full list of the specs and manufacturer info, possibly? I've searched here and websearches online with no luck. Thanks for any help you guys provide.

its a stock deck, with minimal power, made by pioneer for honda. its basically like any other stock deck. suck. i think it has 5-10w rms stock. i would only use it with crappy stock speakers that have low power handling.
So you think I should just go with an aftermarket deck since I was planning on spending $250- ? I was hoping it would be a well upgrade but I guess not..I have a friend at Circuit City that can get me 30-40% off all car audio anyway..

aftermarket. i spent $200 for an alpine 9847 and it is better than stock in every way. plus you can play mp3 cds and sound quality is much better. most aftermarket decks are 18wrms per channel or higher. just stay away from cheap stuff like sony, jvc, jensen, kenwood, some pioneer, etc.

Uh lets not rag on this unit less you actually had it. I got it for my 01 and couldnt be happier with it. I'm not a sound guy at all and will prob never get amps or subs, not even better speakers. Now obviously, if sound is an important issue to you, then maybe you should get a aftermarket HU. IMO, this is a beautiful unit that's double din and very unique in terms of looks. I personally would never consider any other HU, other than a gps unit like the Avic d1 etc. And the sound is just fine IMO, certainly a step up from stock plus it being a 6-cd changer with the option to hook up an I-pod in the front dosent; hurt.

ebay? there are tons of good double din units out there. why do you need mp3 AND changer? one mp3 disc is like 6 regular cds already.
I'm more interested in the actual factory Honda SE head unit. Any info on that?
MP3 and CD changer in a head unit gives you the capacity of 6 times the music of a standard MP3 head unit. If you've got double din, why not?

i got it with my car when i bought it, and if it wasn't for me wanting subs and dvd/gps......, i would still have it in, its the best stock HU ive ever seen. especially 6 disc mp3 changer!!!
^^^ You have a few options:
a) Stealership
b) Majestic Honda
c) ForSale forum on this website (might not be so lucky, though...)
d) eBay (read above)
Hopw you find what you want!
I've checked a few times and have never ever ever ever seen it. Too bad.
You have it, right? If so, could you post pics?
Of the radio and _Catwoman_?

I bought one on Ebay about 6 months ago & sold it on Ebay 2 months later. It's definitely a step up from stock, but still not as good as aftermarket. It's made by Panasonic, by the way. I sold it because the background lights are Amber & I have a sedan with light green lighting. Basically they made it to match both sedans & coupes. It matches the Sedan in the daytime & the coupe at night. It does look good in the dash, but it fades out in sunlight just like most aftermarket units. Most units go between $170-$300. It costs a lot more at Honda. You also have to buy a new climate control console (bezel) if you want it to look good as there is a lip around the edge that won't be covered up without the regular stock radio. Those show up on Ebay occasionaly also, but most people don't know what they are selling & you have to look real close to the picture to tell which one it is. Thats my 2 cents worth.

Enjoy your purchase Steve...you got super lucky that it was in the FS thread that you practically stole it at that price
