3 rear left speakers broken in 4 years

Hi everyone!

i have a 2001 LX. After the first 3 years, the original rear left speaker have broken. Since it was into guaranty, the dealer have changed the speaker for another one. 1 year after, the same speaker have broken too. I know have decided to change all the speakers for good ones. I bought Infinity Reference. 2 DAYS after the installation, the rear left Infinity speaker have broken.... again!!!

You have to know that the 3 broken speakers was played with the original head unit and its also the original cables!

Someone have an explanation??

well... the speaker produce very bad sounds each time theres bass in the sound. I have disconnected the rear left speaker and now i only play with the other one. This week-end, i will probably remove the broken one and change all the cables. I hope its just a shortcut somewhere and that will solve the problems! i dont want to spend more moneys to buy another set of speakers

any idea?? someone??

There is nothing that I can think of that would cause something so specific like that. Maybe some bare wire that runs from that speaker is touching some metal somewere. I wouldn't think that you would have a short anywhere unless someone else has messed with the wires or Honda did a bad job wiring the car, but I doubt that.

Hmm.... yeah... that IS a really odd one. If there were a short, even an intermittent one... it would blow the radio's amp.

I'd sure like to hear what it was if you ever find out.

for now, most people are guessing its a problem with the radio output or a short from the radio (the original one). I will remove the cables and see if theres something wrong with them.

I will give you news!

go and jiggle the connector under the speaker. it may be loose. I ended up stripping the wires and connecting directly to the speaker and now it never turns off.
