Problem FOUND!

Couldn't understand why my car was acting up around 4000rpm, it was misfiring when I would get on it. I went to Checker Automotive and hooked up the obdII scanner and found out my #3 cylinder was misfiring so now I'm going to check the coil pack and spark plug and see what I can find. wish me luck.

It's been weeks of me trying to find a solution and now I atleast know. lol

thx to Gearbox for trying to help me out.

get a cheap ebay code reader for $30 and figure it out yourself. the mechanic that checked your car is an idiot. hids don't throw engine codes. electrical load detector is the system that turns the alternator on and off depending on when power is needed. you most likely have a bad ELD. i believe this is in the fuse box so just find a junkyard and buy the fuse box or just the eld part.

Yeah, but could my alternator be going? The ELD is actually under the fuse box, that little connection that plugs in. How do I tell if its bad?

thx

well there is an engine code for the eld. if the alternator dies, you will know it. the battery light on the gauge will turn on and you will be running on battery power (and not for long either).

oh boy same happened to me and turned out to be a blown headgasket. coil pack is very unlikely but you can check the resistance with a multimeter and see if they're all about the same. otherwise check plugs. are you losing coolant? if your plugs are chalky it means there's burnt coolant on em.

yeah, I went and scanned my car with the obdII reader, told me #3 cylinder was misfiring, replaced spark plug, checed coil pack, checked boots, no rips/tear/cracks etc........fixed the problem. I could of just had a faulty plug who knows. If you have a problem get the scanner hooked up and find out. Just make sure you read both types of codes.

There are TROUBLE CODES and there are PENDING CODES. Make sure you check both of them, thats where I messed up because I forgot to check the pending codes and that's where the prob was.
