Unhappy Noise and bad shaking from front rightside

It feels like the shocks have gone out on that side of the car, if so, it gave no warning at all that it was going bad. It seems like all of a sudden when riding over rough spots you can here this noise and feel the vibration from the noise in the pedals and steering. It reminds me of a woodpecker pecking at a tree but just deeper. It’s repetitive like that when you hit a rough spot. I hope this makes sense to somebody because I would really like to know what maybe the problem before I take it in and get a line of BS.

Thanks for your time and help,
Prime

umm lets see, when I am driving the car and I hit a bump in the road, it feels like the tire on that side is just bouncing up and down to much. Like when you dribble a basket ball close to the ground. So one big bounce of the ball and then several small fast ones follow. If the road is really bad then its just like bouncing the ball low and fast untill I clear the bad spot. I don't know how else to say it. If no one here has any ideas about what it can be; once I have it fixed I will post what the problem was.

Hey

Did you try rotating the tires yet? I think you could probably take it to one of the big chain brakes/struts/wheel stuff places and they'll probably drive the car and tell you what is wrong with it, and you don't have to have them fix it, just get the quote. That's probably what I would do if I wasn't sure, sounds like the strut is shot though, these struts can handle a lot of abuse though, I deliver pizza and mine are all fine still. The noise could definitely be the strut, like since it depressurized and everything. Getting a strut replaced usually isn't too expensive, get quotes from a few different places, try a local mechanic once you know what it is.
