Question Cruise controll question

Well i just got myself a 2004 civic lx coupe and had a question regarding the cruise controll. When i have to cancel cruise controll for some reason and then i press resume accel on it the tranny will downshift and will get up to the speed i had set pretty fast, but it seems like it gets almost there and shifts to the next gear and it's all it then slowly accelerates to the speed i set and then all of a suddden it will downshift and speed up the last 4-5 miles to get to that set speed. Is this normal or might there be something wrong with my car? BTW my car has slightly over 43k on it and it's an auto also.

its a computer, thats how it works. as it senses the proper speed it starts to slow down not to overshoot.

Thanks, i was getting a bit paranoid after reading about all the tranny problems in the 01-02 civic's. Does seem a bit odd that it does it though, stupid computers. haha

and fyi, you're supposed to get it back upto speed by yourself and then within 5mph press the resume button.

I have not resumed from low speed with my Civic. All my other cars would crank up higher than I wanted to rev to resume, so I avoid doing it.

The Civic does pretty good a maintaining on hills. Still revs a little high for me though.

My mechanic friend said it is pretty much normal (to avoid lugging the engine)
