engine hoist trouble

What are the best places to hook up the engine host to the engine? I cant get the damn thing to fall in straight down. it goes in at an angle. and it does not line up with the mounts.

If you have a lift... drop the car onto the motor, its easier. If not, there shoul be a pair of lift hooks, I just haven't looked for them lately. you should be able to balance it on the chain... have you tried shifting the length of the chain on the hook?

You can rent a engine hoist load leveler, it's a small unit that mounts between the engine and hoist. It has a screw crank on one end that will shift the weight and bascially move the engine into any position. You can buy one for between $20 and $30.
