ok, d17 reflash capabilities
ok, so we know we can't do it. but the K-series can. why? cause the memory is reflashable. storage. standalone built in. so why can't we do this? maybe we can. im not saying i know how, but i had an idea when i was talkin to turboengnr. you could add storage to the ECU.
like gut a flash drive, ghetto rig it to the ECU, then with some reverse engineering, you could hav something. it sounds crazy, but its an idea. lets talk about it.

actually they said no.
then were reluctant and gave it a go.
and then they said no again.
here we go ... found the thread: http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/sh...hlight=hondata

I think Hondata's point was its not cost effective for them to make something for the d17 cause e-manage is good enough for minor mods and anyone that wants more goes full standalone AEM EMS.

just get an AEM EMS if you want to tune your car lol.. I know it sucks but hey, its that or a k-swap and a k-pro? lol. till then youll hve to run an Emanager or something. Life in the D17 world sucked. But i could see where you were wanting to go with this. And although it may be possible, it would be a pain in the as$ to implement. You might as well find a way to rig a laptop to replace your ECU and controll your car using Serial ports/usb lol.

He means using the pc as engine managment. You could theoretically use a mac, but that is very unrealistic for any of us. You would basically have to be a super genius, some people can program anything. I never got into computers because I just could never see myself looking through and writing a bunch of code. A lot of people think that will be the wave of the future. One computer to control everything from email to your A/C to your mp3s to your fuel trims. I bet you will be able to watch 600 channels on your phone way before this happens though.
You could "reflash" the d17 too, if you can manipulate it, kinda like what a piggy back does, but even further. That is like saying you can build one because you know how. If you could do this you would be making lots of money and would probably not waste time on a d17 ecu, basically it is not worth it. Unless you have a close friend who is a wiz, you are stuck with what the market offers. Maybe you can use your social capital to find the human capital you need har har.

does this really need to be covered again? So many companies’s tried and failed. We just have to come to the conclusion that, that’s that. You think you can do it, then go for it more power to you. other wise than that this is going to go no where, ill leave it open for now.

Dude by the time you do that you will have spent enough money and time to go buy the ems. You could use your spare time in betters ways, is all Im trying to say. But to each his own.
You wouldn't by any chance know how to hack an xbox 360? Cause a buddy of mine has his original xbox uploaded with a program that allows you do burn games right onto the hardrive as well as other stuff. I used to not care, but I think it would be sweet on the 360. I dunno, I might do some research if I get the time.

you have to remember the newer the car gets the harder it is to break the ecu. also hondata tried more then one time with our ecu they where able to reflash it but it wasnt worth it for the gain they got out of it.

well ill let you guys know. im gonna junkyard a A2 ecu and see if i can do something myself. and it is my choice, even though some think its a waste of time...
actually, from what I've read, the reason why Hondata is able to mess around with the 06 S2000 ecus is because Honda changed their ecus. The previous year's S2k ecus could not be cracked
