older D series VTEC doesnt work the same as D17 VTEC.... maybe better off going to the junk yard for a D17A2 head.

the head would fit on the block but would not work. diffrent electronics and the oil return holes are diffrent. Ive compared with my neighbors d16y8 head and my old stripped block.

SloCol-Vtec is an unknown quantity at this point
Sorry to thread jack but what would I need to do a swap from my D17A6 to a D17A2. Is it a straight swap or do I need to swap to an A2 ecu and all that stuff. Thanks in advance.

the a6 comes in the hx right? and if it is vtec then you shouldn;t need the new ecu.

I would just change the exhaust because the ecu is a pain. And there are a few wiring diffrences. I'm pretty sure the HX has a 3rd o2 sensor.
