Post-install spring popping noises

I was just wondering if not having this fixed would cause any problems over time.

The popping doesn't really bother me except for the fact that I can't let go of the wheel and let the wheel straighten itself out after a U-turn because it would get stuck at a spot where I have to unpop it using my hands.

If this will cause problems in the future, I can't fix this problem without taking out the spring can I? Like indexing the strut assembly without taking out the spring? This is on stock struts btw.

Sounds like it might be a bad bearing or the spring isnt seated correctly. You'll have to take them out most likely in order to re-index and ensure that that the spring is seated in the upper rubber mount and lower spring perch.

possibly your shocks aren't lined up correctly. search for the spring install diy or shock install diy.

Just to add to this comment:
To re-index (lineup marks) struts, you'll need to take them appart.
If you wont get indexing right, you're going to be out of allingment.
Strut bearings will fail.

Basicaly its a disaster to leave it as it is.

you can try unloading the car (jack it) and index the springs, but its guessing.

I've got TEIN basic coilovers, and they do that if the upper mount isin't lined up correctly with the chassis. Honestly, Im not sure what it's called, but that metal plate at the very top of the strut assembly has a notch in it, and if that notch isin't facing the engine bay, when the shock rotates the spring flexes a little bit and then pops as is jumps and realigns with the shock.

I have Tein S.Tech springs.

The problem for me is if i take the strut apart, I won't have a spring compressor to put it back on

You dont really need a spring compressor with our front springs. At first I used one, but then later I just stopped since there really isnt that much spring pressure needed to get the bolt back on. I only weigh about 150 lbs and I was able to compress mine down enough to get the bolt started. The only thing you have to be careful of is when you take them apart that the bolt doesnt go flying. Another thing you can do is rent a spring compressor, or just buy one. Theyre like 20 bucks or sumptin.. better to spend 20 bucks now IMHO.

If you need some help indexing, look at my gallery you'll see some pics that might help.

cool thanks.. i'll check it out during spring break (car isn't with me right now). I've driven the car like this for a few months after the install so i hope nothing went wrong by not fixing it earlier.

Your front upper pillow mounts are not in correctly. They have to line up a specific way. If you look at them carefully, they are angled.

Basically, take your front suspension apart, line up the top mount (you'll see an arrow) with the bottom mount (again, an arrow).

lmfao I'd rather live with the noise that happens every once in a while than pull everything off and put it back on

I've done suspension installs enough times that it would probably only take me about an hour to do all that.

If you can live with it that's cool but basically what's happening is parts of your suspension that are not designed to move and actually moving around. Plus I've heard the noise and it's super annoying
