i need opinions on external w/g placement *bonus money shot*
edit: Originally this thread was a question regarding wastegate placement on an SF manifold. At the same time I came across a sweet *** deal on an SFP manifold. The SF manifold is now for sale. Link to the f/s thread is in my sig. So for now, just look at my pile of **** and drool.

varner88, hurry up and buy this.
this is the fun stuff

where on cylinder 3 would it go? the wastegate is pretty tall..
yeah, there is no way that wastegate is going to work properly on there. the collector on that manifold looks really shitty too..... doesnt come together very well, more like all the pipes were just welded together without the concern of a good flowing collector which could cause flow problems with the turbo. i would highly recommend a different manifold if you have the funds. i sent you a PM on what i would do if i was you...
DONT PANIC

it will work fine on one cylinder. Look at the most mass produced manifolds with external wastegates. They work fine. Like the ATP cast manifold for the SRT4. It is on cylinder #1. I have personally worked on a car that made 550 whp on that manifold with a tial 38mm wastegate.
I agree that it is not as efficient as tapping into the collector, but it shoulds work just fine for what you are doing. That is, if you are staying with that manifold.

Yes most mass produced do ok for the average Joe.

edit: i was thinking of doing that, but i bought an SFP manifold for a great price.
