TEIN SS question... this sucks!

Hey... Ive had my TEIN SS's installed for a while, and lately been wanting to drop the car a little more, believe it or not... the fronts are at the lowest height setting! (its weird because the rear ones could go probably an inch lower if I really wanted to, but it would be so uneven). Is there anything I can do to make it lower, besides the obvious (changing suspension) Which might be an option for me down the road if there is no other way.

The pictures here show the height of the front and the space from the wheels to the fender... (that is at its lowest height setting)

if there is something I can do please let me know
I guess what im trying to say , or what im hoping for is maybe There is something in the front suspension I can take off (that I was supposed to take off) that will give me a lower drop or something?

I've got Tein S Tech's and I'm on 17's with TOYO Proxes4 215/40/17 and my front is a little bit lower than that...

could it be because 16" is too small for em2?! lol

I think if you have smaller rims the car would drop more...I dont think that's your problem.

yes the car would drop more but you would still have a gap in the fender.. which i guess is my main concern... It supposidly drops 0-3"

Install them again to see if that was the problem.

i dont know how many inches its dropped I never really measured... I know its definately not 3 inches!

hmmm........i still have 4 threads to go on the front and i have a 1/2 finger gap with 17's. On my 15' steelies with winter tires, i am tucking.

yea, when i had my steelies on for the winter with my TeinSS the front had no gap at all..... this is weird.

You might have installed a ring in the wrong spot. However, maybe the guys that go lower have the pillowball upper mounts or camber plates.

What year is your car? If it's got the early style stock strut mount (no ball bearings), then you need to use the gold ring, if you have the new style (with ball bearing sleeve) you need to use the green ring.

thanks for the compliments about the wheels I think they would look better with a 1 finger gap!

My car is a 2002 Civic Ex, When I installed the coil overs (front ) I didnt change anything (as in upper mounts) it went right in, I was hearing mixed answer about needing an uppermount from an 01 etc.

And I have the Tein SS's w/o the pillow ball mounts

The car rides fine... No noises, squeaking or anything, its just I want it lower!

I will try and get to that either today or tomorrow....

Like I said earlier I have an 02 civic... I didnt not change any uppermounts to an 01 (like I heard from a few people you have to do)

can that be part of the problem?

everything rides good, no noises or anything exept for the problem of not being able to lower it more

Looks good to me, Nice sporty drop, and not too low as to compromise the geometry of the suspension. Why hinder the cars handling in pursuit of a "look"?

true... I agree BUT... I still think I have to fix it because Its set all the way down (I heard it can cause damage to the struts eventually if left long)

Hmm. MrXclusive car is the same height as yours but his are 2/3 up.

Tein SS w/o pillow ball mounts
2001 LX coupe.

Try to pull it apart and verify the tein diagram to make sure you didn't stick both rings in their, or something silly like that.

Holy ****. No wonder you can't lower it anymore. It appears to me that you have your factory upper spring perch sandwhiched between the ring and the upper strut mount.

Outlined in Red is the factory upper spring perch, it needs to go.

Outlined in Blue is the upper strut mount, it stays (mandatory)

Outlined in Green is the adapter ring. It is made for the early model uper strut mounts. Check the Tein diagram when you remove your upper strut mount to verify the type of upper mount you have. Gold is for early, green is for late.

Good luck, post pics of the upper mounts if you are not sure which ring to use.

Did you not experience some noise? I'd imagine it'd be pretty loud.

and no.. no noise at all and a very good ride... close to stock but with much better handling
