How low do the needles go past the (E) empty line?

I had a close call a couple days ago and the low gas light was on for almost 40km on the highway going 120 kmph. i was a bit scared so it just made me wonder how low these things go.

Low enough to make my car shut down... Didn't have another choice, couldn't find any gas stations with gasoline (it was a few months ago when gasoline truckers here were on strike).

Learned from experience, though! I never let my gas gauge go down from 1/4.

I drove about 60 miles with the gas light on. That was when gas was 3 something and it took a nice chunk of change to fill it up.

once the light turns on for me, i can make an easy 100kms. The most I makde was 720kms on a tank, it just shut off when I went down a hillto fill up.

On the highway I can go as far as 60 miles to reach a gas station, but a lot less on city driving.

i get nervous when it gets to a quarter of a tank, but i usually wait till the light goes on and fill it up a few miles later

I've went 35 miles with the light on.. I had my buddy follow me to the gas station just incase because we were in the boonies at the time.. like 20 miles from the station.

Maybe im alone on this, but my car drives weaker with less gas, not like that is unusual, but im talking a quarter tank it drives slower.

that's odd, because on the other forum I belong to, everyone swears by, and has usually 1/2 a tank or less in the car, for weight reduction reasons, I dunno about you though Tragedy

i don't use my gas gauge that much to judge how much gas i have in my car ... i go by calculating mileages

full tank i can go 300-315 miles
half: 150ish (duh)

i assume i get 30mpg, so if i wanted to go 30 miles, i'll pay whatever it costs for a gallon. i drive around my city all the time so i know how far places are =\ but it helps with saving myself from running out of gas

exactly...I let it run on E once, Once it gets right below 1/4 mark i fill up.

ive just went 60 miles with the light on, the lowest the needle goes is when its covering the upper right corner of the E, but im paranoid about my car running out of gas while driving so i usually fill up within 10 miles of the light being on, this was just a test of how far i can go with a full tank of gas---316 miles with racing an accord up to 100 and flooring it about 5 times also, i also drive hard, who know how much i would get if i drove normal but thats impossible here in NY

i have one of the stupid ones (01) so my light comes on and I am at E with 2 gallons left.
Longest I drove on that light is ~40 miles. And I do not like to push my car so I won't ever push my luck like that again. luckily i made it to a gas station but that wasn't a very fun feeling
