koni yellows and skunk2 coilovers...still ride like crap
ok, after installing my koni yellows, i was expecting my em2 to ride like a champ for daily driving. i gave it a little time to settle/break in but its still riding very very stiff and rough even on koni's softest setting. its great at the twisties no doubt, but city driving is killing me here. i have my coilovers set about halfway on the front and 2/3 lowered on the rear. however, i do also have 2 12" subs in a big box and 2 amps in the trunk...maybe thats why i was bottoming out on the highway eariler tonight?
is it the skunk2 coilovers that have such high spring rates? how would the neuspeed race springs go with these? i really prefer the adjustable springs, but it seems like i have to expect an stiffer ride with sleeved adjustable springs

Sounds like a spring rate issue... You can buy different springs to fit those collars, talk to the guys over at ground control, they can sell you springs fairly cheep. Though there is a minimum spring rate they will sell for this car.
There are other companys that sell springs that will fit your collars too.
another reason for the stiff ride is because you are using Liniar rate springs... progressive springs will allways ride softer. (Liniar rate springs come on "coilovers" too)
BTW, Konis only adjust rebound.... meaning they have a whole lot more to do with adjusting the cars handling then they do with adjusting the cars ride quality. that isnt to say that adjusting them soft Vs firm doenst have some influence on ride quality, its just a lot less of a difference then people assume.

yeah those konis are nice to use for getting your cornering smooth,, but dont blame shitty ride quality on them. They are a very solid and reliable shock. Those Skunk 2 springs are race springs, they are not designed for a comfortable street ride. If you want comfort try tein springs or some eibach's i have sportlines with my konis and its great for me. The shock at its softest makes the car ride nearly stock but if you put it to firm or about 3/4 of the way to firm its really stiff and nice.
youll have no trouble offloading your springs in the For Sale forums so go pick up some better springs

you bought coilovers expecting the ride of a Buick. Big Mistake. This is obvious and inherent to any straight rate spring that they will not be soft.
GC's minimum rate is 375, they won't give you any lower.
The shocks are bottoming out because the car is either too low, or there's so much **** in the trunk its just weight it down and slamming it when the weight shifts vertically
