Walk into a Honda dealer
go to the parts counter
specify that you want the Nippon Leakless HG
Its one of the OEM HGs.

Do you realize that the problem isn't the headgasket, it's the tune? I'm making 250whp and my OEM gasket is holding up fine....
If you're blowing a headgasket, it's a sign that something isn't right. You should try figuring out why it blew instead of getting a "thicker" gasket.

DO you realize what i am even reffering to? I was asking because i wanted to drop the compression a point, back when i built my first turbo honda (1996) we didn't have Cometic, Inline Pro, Golden eagle to make thicker headgaskets, so we improvised. It is easier than re-building the bottom end, and effective for what i am trying to get.

I had a b16 that made 300whp on stock internals, and ran that way for 18k!

I haven't blown anything, motors i build don't usually blow, unless i make them.

Now....does anyone make a thicker headgasket for the 1.7?

I think kms makes one but i don't know if its thicker or just stronger. I think you should go custom and have someone make one. Why not just build the block and get lower compression pistons?

Where do i find kms? I am new to the d17 and most people i deal with carry little to no worth-while parts. Its for my wife, her car is a turd. I don't want do a full build, i just want to be able to "squeeze" as much out of this one....safely. If i planned to track the car, then i would pursue a build. I have my car for that

Thanks for the info, i will google KMS and see what i get!

2 things,

1. No I didn't realize why you wanted a thicker gasket. You didn't specify either way. There have been countless threads about this very thing and typically when people want thicker gaskets, its so they won't blow.

2. There is a search button. Again, this question has been asked many many times and instead of posting a whole new thread on it, you could've searched and found it without another thread on the same subject.

Just throw on 2 OEM's and torque them 5 lbs more.

Yes, there have been countless threads on this and you could eaisly have searched. I did leave this thread open because i was hoping for some more productive answers.
