suspension travel

i just got some progress coilovers installed and when i was setting ride height a thought popped into my head...

i was wondering what the best setting is between height and suspension travel....i have the front of my car just about 1 finger over the tire and i have a little over an inch of travel before the bumpstop on my coilovers...

is that enough travel? what would be the ideal combo of ride height and travel?

also...on clubrsx the other day i read a thread where somebody saw the spoon rsx and it had its steering tie rods turned over so that they sit under the steering arm on the strut...has anybody tried this? any improvement with the bump steer?

Don't know much about the travel issue. That is why independent height adjustment rules. Anyway. Flipping the tie rod requires you to drill out the hole in the steering arm. It should be tapered downwards so the tie rod won't fit the other way unless you drill it out. It should help a little with bump steer and allow you to lower more than having it the other way.

an inch doesn't sound like enough travel at all.

The flip thing isn't terribly smart because you eliminate the taper lock that holds the tie rod in the strut. The bolt holds it, but its not nearly as solid as the tapered hole.

boilermaker...just curious...how much travel do you have? i want to get an idea of how much travel i want to have to optimize the performance

also....is there a trick to gain more travel like the ground control extended tophats that so many people with older generation civics use? i know the macpherson in the front makes it a little harder but is there a way to gain a little more travel?

exactly how much? I dunno, a few inches. Its hard to get up there with a ruler and measure.
The only way I know of to increase travel is raise the car up or get dampers with adjustable lower perches (JICs, Tein Flex etc).
