brakes? metalish rattling,screechy sound

Coming from passenger front wheel area, echoes when driving down the road with a gutter, echoes, when I hit brakes it stops, gets somewhat loud when driving on the interstate with that whistling sound coming from the wheel area...time for new pads? hopefully not the rotor!

my guess is pads are gone. Change them before you do kill your rotors. As long as the brakes are not pulsing, you're rotors should be fine. But if you wait to change the pads to long, the metal on the pads will kill the rotors, so do it sooner then later.

When you said "stops when I hit the brakes" most likely is the wear indicators giving you the warning, better check them quick.

Both of you civic brothers of mine are right, thanks much, I went up to honda, a mechanic I know told me to come over that evening and we would work on it, it was exactly what both of you said, wear indicator making the noise, and pads with 1 mm left on them, rotors fine and smooth. I got new oem honda pads put on ...everything is cool........$80 paid to the guy I know
