now thats a noobie with some sense!
rep'd you for that.
i thought about doing this myself, but its not worth it in the end. Do you realize all of the parts you have to gather to acheive this and also if you don't do the labor yourself, its going to cost you a bundle just for labor itself
....well here is wat im debating..im planning to spend 1-2g..i want either tranny swap...but everyone is saying its expensive..motor swap?.but im prettys sure motor swaps cost a lot..or automatic turbo.....but it will still be automatic..iono....this is depresssing.

Just keep you car in good shape, keep the interior clean, wax the outside and make sure you do your maintnence and just be happy you have a car. I have manual and there really is nothing special, lots of times an auto is so much more conveniant. If this is really want you want, sit down and think about it, dont do something impulsive and regret that you wasted your money on it.

when i first thought about buying a car, i thought that manual transmission was the **** too... i would be able to build up my car and be able to race the **** out of it.... BUT... about only 3 years of owning my car, i'm pretty much over it... i get sick driving my car in traffic, always having to downshift, worry if the clutch is all the way down or i'm in the right gear... maintenence is about the same as far as cost but if you've got a heavy foot, you'll be spending a lot more money on clutches, broken gears, and overall broken tranny's...
it's more trouble than it's worth and the auto is very practical, especially if you're a commuter... if you're looking to modify and race your car, you're much better off buying either a "race bucket" or buying the car that had a manual transmission in it...

Hey dude, here's a link from the Recycler.

He's selling the tranny (manual) for $250. If you're still interested, check it out.

I'm looking at doing an auto to manual swap as well... but it's for my winter beater. I can't handle driving auto anymore I find that I'm less in touch with the car and I tend to get lazy and therefore I've been in more bad situations driving auto. I live a snow belt so even though auto is generally better in the snow I'm not as quick to react as I would be if I was driving stick so in my opinion it equals out. If my other car didn't have a kit I would drive that (cuz it's a 6spd stick)
I think lilaznboi2486 would also like to know this... what do we need in order to do the tranny swap? I'm going to have a 2001 si any help for either of us is greatly appreciated
*EDIt sorry for the delayed post and outdated information. didn't see there was a second page (noob mistake)
