Pistons, rods, sleeving?
Ok, I have pistons and rods, do you think it is worth the trouble sleeving? How much boost can I run with just pistons and rods? How much if I sleeve? Thanks!
sleeving is def. a good investment. it will allow alot more boost, but our lack of fuel and tranny and axels will have to be adressed after. It's a good insurance policy for your investment. Would you want to go thru the trouble of having the pistons and rods installed only to crack a sleeve and chance having to buy new pistons and rods?
^^I agree...just save up some money and definately sleeve it...my 91 DA ls-vtec is sleeved...its a very good feeling knowing i can go hard anytime without worrying about cracking a sleeve know what i mean...u wont regret it

You can get away with around 350 whp without sleeves. Anything close to or over 400, you should get sleeves. I haven't known of anyone with a d17 that cracked a sleeve from too much power.

i agree... sleeving is good. but the D17 tranny is relatively weak even with an overhaul kit. plus you gotta consider if you want to up boost your stock head is going to need some work. P&P is pretty much a must as an econobox like this isnt designed for great air flow! get new cams, especially since crower finally delivered on the D17, and obviously springs, valves, and retainers. grab bigger injectors, like off an RSX-S or even bigger.
then you should be good to go.

Dont waste your money on sleeving it you can get in the 300hp with stock sleeves aslong as you have a GOOD tune on it. Its all about the tune whether or not things are gonna be reliable or not

Where did you get that information?
I have spent hours on the phone with Darton. The only thing they saw that was weak on the block was the casting at the bottom of the cylinders. They said that if you were to keep the cylinders from walking (by use of a block guard), then you would be able to run "15-20 psi of boost" (this is not a "daily number", he said 15 daily, 20 track).
