Turbo = Loosing Fog lights?
Just recently purchased a turbo kit. I'm wondering if i'm going to loose my fog lamps due to the intercooler piping. Anyone else have this problem? I know there isnt much room to redirect the intercooler piping. Is there anyone running fogs with a front mount? BTW i have an 04 SE

Im sure that you will most likely lose them.
But i think a turbo is a little more fun than a couple lights.

most kits require the removal of the lights. i know this because i designed one of them.
you can get the pipes around them, but it takes a less efficient design than just removing them. Takes more bends, intercooler design is different. It simply costs a little more money. And when people design kits, they want the easiest to install, the fastest to build, and the cheapest to make.

Its a custom Kit off another member on this site. The thing is I spent alot of time/money with these fog lights. Cracked open the housing and painted them a translucent yellow. Plus I dont want to butcher my car, leaving my fog light wires just hanging there, or having the switch in the car that doesnt work.

so then if you have to get rid of them, sell them. at least make some money off the time and effort you put into them. im sure there are people here who want 04 fog lights. then you just get one of the little plastic peices to go where the switch used to be.

Your making too big a deal over these fogs, you have turbo now man!!! You will have to cut part of your front bumper so the intercooler can be mounted and function, so there is going to have to be cutting. If your so hooked on the fogs and don't wanna cut sell the turbo. But I think once you get your turbo in you will forget about the fogs.

Polo, thats what this whole discussion is about, Fogs with turbo.... Front mount IC's would make it a pain in the *** to have fogs if you could fit it anyways, side mounth IC i'm not sure about, but IMO wouldn't give you the optimum performance a FMIC would. You could always do a top mount like subura but i haven't seen it done on a honda.

subaru's have boxer motors, making them flat, allowing the intercooler to sit ontop and clearing the hood, doing it in a civic would be near impossible without having the entire thing sticking out of the hood.

thats your only concern???
if you do a search in the member rides section for intercooler...you will see pictures of where you have to cut for the piping to fit...you are going to have to cut all of the lower grill out of the bumper...so yes, you'll loose your fog lights

theyre called Horizontally opposed motors.
to do a top mount, you would need a large vent in your hood. And you would have to put the intercooler directly over the tranny (only place that there is room). And it still would be nowhere near as efficient as the front mount. Thats why mosy suby owners pitch the top mount for a front mount.
