I am not sure about the process involved in converting to a manaul, but there are 10 million threads around here about it, so those should help you.

But as far as the tranny slipping, I am no expert on automatic transmissions since I havent really studied or worked on them yet. But I can tell you that the price to fix it depends on the problem. it could be as little as $20 and as high as $3000 depending on the problem.

I am assuming you are out of warranty correct? Just find one at a junk yard for a few hundred bucks.

if you get it work done on it
it would be a good time to through in a torque converter if you stay auto

ya, i just replaced my auto tranny yesterday now i have a 730 check engine light code that i think is for gear ratio problem.

Just be prepared to have alil more problems before you get it completly fixed. if its still not fixed yet and you can drive it, i would take it to a shop ASAP so that you dont have to find a new one.

Yeah, what he said.

It's super hard to diagnose a tranny problem (particuarly and auto tranny) over the internet, get to a shop rather than listen to us debate about it, your tranny has little life init, fix while you can.

As for converting to manual, it's not easy. I'm not sure about the details, but I know you have to weld boxes for the shift linkage under the car and mount the brakets, it's not a simple task, but people have done it and it's certianly not the hardest thing to do.

If it starts slipping, do not drive it. You'll maybe get a few weeks out of it if not a few days. could cost up to $3k to fix. Manual swap is considerably more, plus all the parts you need.

02cvcex,
go to a reputable shop and have them take a look at your tranny. if it needs to be replaced, get the manual tranny. i found a place that sells the tranny for 900.00 (change over). this was from an 04 civic. it includes all the parts needed to convert it to manual (ecu, gauges, pedals, etc.). labor should cost you between 300-500.
