I'm going to FuXing cry! DKN7 Was WAY 2 expensive!!

I'm never going to darknights again!!!

Two weeks ago, found out that I'm getting laid off.

One week ago, got a $110 ticket because I forgot to renew my license plate stickers.

Darknights, $110 for unnecessary noise (muffler) and another $110 for having white bulbs in my blinkers. TOTAL --> $330.

On the way home from darknights, I needed some gas so I pulled off at an exit, and on my way out, just as I was turning to go on the ramp back to the highway...... of course, another god damn cop! 3 demerit points, and a $118 ticket! Total --> $448!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone with advise on how to fight these tickets, or especially the demerit points... I would love input!!!!!!!!!

Damn that's craptastical dude. I'm afraid you're gonna have to fight the tickets here in GTA (specifically York Region). Anyhoo, were your front blinkers hyperwhite, or just regular clear OEM bulbs? If they were the blue-tinted ones, you probably won't win, but if they were just the clears, then they're still legal.
I don't remember your muffler being that loud, so you can fight that; use the "the police officer is entitled to his discretion but I feel that due to my proximity to an import car show his opinion was biased".

This year's cash grab wasn't especially bad, but I think I speak for the entirety of the DKN competitors and enthusiasts when I say this has got to stop. I mean, from all the cop cars on the road to and from the fairgrounds, you gotta wonder what would happen if someone robbed a bank 10 km away....

Rofl...yeah...in the other thread I stated I was gonna go there next year and just bust into houses..lol.

Norek: d00d that blows man. I feel your pain though...reminds me of March when I got nailed 3 times...it sucked.

I don't think your car is loud man...wow, you have a TCS...that's about as quiet as it gets in the aftermarket. I'd fight it for sure but like Telly said, whatever you got in York Region, you have to fight in York Region

Regardless if we think it is not loud it is up to the cop. I think it is just like our tint law and that it is up to the cop. I would still fight it though and just explain to the judge that you came all the way from Ottawa with 10 other people for this car show. That every year thousands of people come to To for this show and this is the way cops treat people who are bringing business to TO. Hope everything works out for ya.

It's not loud at all. I had that system and on the outside it's super quiet. That cop just saw a big exhaust tip and nailed you for it.

Look online for db ratings of aftermarket exhausts. You might find the TCS...put it up against whatever the allowable limit is and see how it compares.

If you hire a ticket fighter like PoinTTs who was at the show handing out $50 vouchers they can represent you in court so you dont have to go all the way to markham. They are probably expensve but if they can get rid of those demerit points its probably worth it.

I have more info for the office closest to Markham if you desire. We spoke with them for about 5 min at the show.

Just call them and ask what it is. I asked the Ottawa police dept once but I can't remember. There's a good chance that it might be different in the York Region so give 'em a call. LINK

the equipment tickets are BS...you can show take it to the justice of the peace and show some receipts that you changed the bulbs and your exhaust and they will suspend the sentence meaning no fine.

the 3 demerit pt ticket will be reduced to no demerit pts and a reduced fine as a plea bargain agreement at court....if your lucky and the cop doesn't show then ur home free.

DKN is filled with tickets waiting to happen...thats why you flatbed your car there...and flatbed your car out...

or take a different route...just avoid McCowan at all cost and your good to go...there are 3 other ways to get to and back from DKN..as far as I know, McCowan and Major Mc was the only interection with cops.

I would rather just get a transport permit and drive it in. They can't touch you with one of those on your windshield

There was another one at McCowan and 19th and one between McCowan and Markham on Elgin Mills

the only way that was fine was if you went McCowan to Elgin Mills, and went east to 48....

there is no allowable limit for noise. otheriwse they would have to use a sound meter to measure it. It is totally at the officer's discretion. Thats is why you got a ticket, becasue they can. There is nothing you can do except take a chance at fighting it.

guess he had a lead foot on the on ramp coming out from the rest stop

I almost got pinned on the 416 coming back to Ottawa, I was going 130 and I noticed the cop parked under a bridge facing my lane, I slowed down to like 120 and as I got closer to him he started to pull out. I thought I was screwed, luckily he never pulled me over, probably wanted to give me a scare.
