Question 02 Civic - A/C Problem

Hey everyone, new to the board and have a 02 Civic.

Been having problems with the A/C. Its not working and apparently its fully charged. If by passed then it works but if not it won't work unless we run it direct. Any one had this issue before??? and what could it possibly be??
please advise

Thanks everyone

What part are you bypassing? If it works after bypassing a certain part, then that part most likely failed.

How do you know it is fully charged? There is a low pressure cutoff switch which will prevent your a/c compressor from comming on if you are low on refrigerant. If you bypass this, you will force the compressor to run at the risk of damaging the compressor since the refrigerant carries the lubricant for the compressor as well. You can also look into the evaporator temperature sensor. If this is faulty, your a/c compressor won't come on either. Bypassing a faulty evaportator temperature sensor will make the compressor come on if everything else is working properly.

More than likely your switch is bad, is it the low freon switch that he is bypassing, If it is then it will be the switch bad.

switch/low refrigerant

I took it into the mechanic and he had said that the refrigerant is full but he order some switch or sensor or somethin that was under the dash but he put it in and it still the same thing. He can't seem to figure it out just yet so I figure i'd cut some time and ask some experts on here.

Thanks guys for the input.
