Not impressed with MPG!
Made my first road trip with my new 05 ex and was not impresed with the gas mileage on the highway. I get about 289 miles to the tank in the city so I expected a huge increase on the highway. There wasn't one! I still used over half a tank from Cincy to Toledo which is what my 01 mazda b-3000 used to get and it had a 3.0 V-6 in it! I had the cruise set at 70 mph and didn't get stuck in traffic the whole time. Ran about 3300 rpm the whole way. Is it the V-tec? It was windy on both trips but I just expected more from my new 4 banger. What are you guys getting on the highway?
I'd double check your tire pressure. I think the manual says to increase tire pressure to 35 psi for road trips.
Personally, the best I've gotten was somewhere around 36 mpg on a trip through MA and CT with my 2002 lx sedan.

Well some times auto. makers will put in the computers, a break in time. My parents had a 4.6 v8 in a ford thunderbird and it kept getting faster and mpg in intervals all the way up to about 2000 miles then it stayed there. I would just put some miles on it and see. Btw how many miles does it have on it?? Also was it a hilly drive. It seems that hills with small tq numbers kills mpg.
yesh, its definitely break in...get like 5000 miles before you notice your mileage start to stablize. I got 300/tank at the beginning, then on my trip to vegas from los angeles, i got over 400 on a tank, then it dropped, and eventually stabalized around 380/tank..which is what i get today on my 2001 EX coupe.
last time i took it in for a 30k mile check up, afterwards, it went berserk again. Started getting 220-250 miles/tank, so i went to the dealership complainin, and they checked the car again, said nothing was wrong, so i took it home, and after a few more drives, the mileage stabalized back at 360-380 miles/tank

95% of the time I get 375-400 miles before the low fuel light goes on. The other 5% of the time, I get 360-375 miles before the low fuel light goes on, either because the weather has been bad or because I wasted lots of gas shifting at or near redline. The last road trip I made where I left the speed control at 70 mph I drove for over 400 miles before the low fuel light came on.

Ok... 1st thing thats messing up your calculations., Your'r compairing Half a tank from your civic To Half a tank from your B-3000. THe civic Has a 13.2 Gallon Tank and the B-3000 has a 19.5 Gallon tank... So, You went the same distance on 6.6 Gallons in your Civic that you use to do with 9.75 Gallons in the Truck. Thats a 3 gallon difference.

Last year going down and back to the MA meet thru the hills of PA I got 39 mpg. I was checking close to see if the 17s would kill my mileage!
I just filled up after a trip that was approximately 270 miles of highway at 74 MPH and the last 100 miles (So 370 on the tank)was local on very hilly terrain and pushing it pretty good up the hills to stay at 55-60. It took 10.6 gallons to fill so that gives me ~35 MPG. That is with the new E3 plugs and and a AEM V2 intake. I usually get 325 to 375 per tank no matter what I am driving.

i get about 350+ miles before a fill up with mostly city driving.
the first fill up after i got my new tires awhile ago was 39.5 mpg!!! wtf happened there? i haven't gone over 36.5 mpg since then. that was just a magical tank of gas or something.

It also has to do with what company and grade you're using... For example: I use Shell V-Power (premium, just to make sure I keep my baby runnin great for a long time) which I get about 380 mi/tank as opposed to BP mid-grade (when I get a free tank from my gf) which only gives me about 320-350. Just to note: stock motor and rims w/ new tires and 56k. And when I fill up I still got 1/8 tank remaining everytime.
OMG! Would you idiots please give your milage in "MILES PER GALLON" saying how much you got out of a tank is worthless unless you say exactly how many gallons you used. I'm pretty sure your not all filling up at the exact same level. Thank you to those who did use the correct units.
