help, axles????

So, I changed out my clutch, and thought I put everything back together right. I cant turn my wheels though. I can, but its the wosrt grinding noise ever. This is in neutral. Would that be my axles are not on correctly?? They would not snap in, no matter how hard I tried, but they are on sturdy, dont move, etc, etc. They should snap in though, right? Is this my axles, or could it be that I have no PS fluid? I think I have a leak. A few days ago when I was working on my car, it started leaking some fluid by the firewall. I havent driven my car in about a month and a half. I checked all my fluids today, and the PS fluid was basically gone. so, Im guessing there is a leak somewhere. Would no fluid cause it to grind when I turn? I would think so, and Im hoping I dont have to take my wheels/rotors/brakes back off.

Any help on what y'all think this is would be awesome. Thanks a lot. I need this fixed by monday, tuesday at the latest. My girl is tired of me driving her jeep.

Peace

You should be able to confirm if the axles are properly seated in to the transmission from looking at it from under the car

Cant turn your wheels? Like roll them? or you talk about left to right? but having no pws fluid deffinatly aint good. Did you drain it when you put your clutch on? have you tried driving your car?

I can turn them properly with the car not on. They sound fine when I turn with the car off. When its on, I can still turn them, but it grinds.

A couple days ago I noticed a fluid leaking under my car. Its not oil, coolant, brake fluid, anything like that. I checked all fluids, and they are perfect. Just the PS fluid is gone. I have a leak, or knocked something loose. I thought the PS would just no work without fluid, but would it also grind?

So, no fluid would make it grind or would not cause that problem?

and I am NOT driving my car. I havent for about a month and a half. I added my tranny fluid yesterday since I hadnt yet after I changed my clutch a few days ago. so I added it, checked all fluids, and turned the car on. The leak was the PS fluid though.

The axles are straight in there, they grip the teeth. When I turn one wheel when up on jacks, the other turns fine with it. But only when I turn the wheel when the car is down from the jacks and the car is turned ON.

thanks a lot. Im gonna go jack my car up, and just double check the axles look proper. Ill respond possibly in 5 minutes, or Ill try to fix something. Ill be going to Honda hopefully today and getting some fluid. Is there another fluid that I can use as a permanent replacement, not temporary. Im not sure if its the same as brake fluid or coolant?

yeah check you pws hoses, thats more than likely the case. Your car can grind with out power streaing fluid, because the pump is still going. So its not being lubed and its probably grinding.

thats what i was thinking.

I fixed my axles a few hours ago. They werent on all the way hehe . Im a dumbass, but at least smart enough to not drive until I am poitive its all working right. Im going to Honda in a couple minutes to get some fluid and see if my parts are in (since they dont call when parts are in). I hope there is no grinding or leaking. Ill find out in about 30-40 minutes.

Thanks for the responses. Have an awesome day y'all!

Peace

I didnt even think about that. I knew that, but forgot it was sunday. My girl and i were fighting yesterday, and I ended up making her drive me there, since I was stuck home all day yesterday anyways. Than they were closed. hehe. oh well. I have to go back today to get my new pipe. Ill just have to wait and see what happens when I add a little fluid. Ill tighten all the hoses, add fluid, and hopefully it will be fine.

If not, can I pull my PS fuse and be fine. I know there will be no PS of course, but I can live with that until the new hoses come in. I figure that way it just get no power, so it should be like a DX basically. Or will the pullies still be running, and possibly cause some damage? I just need to be able to drive my car today or tomorrow at the latest. I cant keep driving my girls everyday.

Peace
