Can Cops Give Tickets At Sobriety Checkpoints?
My car is one of the main reasons I don't drink alcohol very often. With my tinted windows and previously my exhaust, I could get pulled over at any second.
I've never actually seen a sobriety checkpoint in my life, but I hear about them all the time. Their main purpose is to keep the roads safe and stop people from driving drunk.
Question is, can they ticket you for having illegal modifications to your car at these checkpoints? I dontt think they should because their only purpose is to check for sobriety, but you never know what cops will pull outta their ***.
P.S. What about things like wearing seatbelts? In my state I think you get a moving violation if they catch you without a seatbelt, they ticket u for the passenger as well.

the seatbelt law can be enforced even if you have it on while driving and take it off to pull your wallet out b4 the cop gets to you. pretty much as far as the seatbelt law goes your best bet is put it on even if your just sitting in a car that is on and dont take it off until your getting out. and yes they can ticket you for your mods.

he could never know that man not wearing his seatbelt could be involved in an fatal accident the same day. if he could pull him over and school him, the driver would take the warning/ticket as a lesson learned (hopefully). i would feel really guilty if i let a man get away with no belts and the driver was involved in an fatal accident later. in california, seat belt violation isnt a traffic violation and doesnt add point(s) to your driving record. thats what i have known from the officer that cited me for it
i guess im glad that he did, since then, im always wearing my belts if the car is ever moving.
at the check points, you can get away with illegal mods, but im sure the main point of what they are doing is to stop drunks. if your just driving normally non-toxicated, then im sure you'll be safe. but if you stroll by the officer(s) hitting air bag switches, knocking dr dre with the bass booming, revving, etc... you know whats gonna happen.

You most certainly can recieve a traffic summons at a safety checkpoint. Are we going to use a lot of the time we have alotted for the roadblock to enforce inspection standards on vehicles? Probably not. Like what was said earlier, dont draw attention to yourself and you should breeze right through the checkpoint....granted you arent hammered!
Titanium Metallic. You got a problem with that?
