Gonna put the Vic up for sale and step up to an 05Type-S
Due to a recent turn of events in my life and the fact that I have some money burning a hole in my pocket I have decided to put the Vic up for sale when I get home in a couple weeks. Once it is sold I will be buying an 05 Type-S.
Here's my thinking. Reliable everyday NA over turbo tuning/reliability issues or weak daily motor with short burst of N20.
With I/RH/E and hondata when it comes out, the additional 10hp in stock form, shorter final drive, and some lightweight 16" wheels with the new falken Azenis 205/40/16(est. another 7% in gear reduction) low to mid 13's could be had with the new 05?? If not on street tires def on DR's. I've seen a couple dynos' around 190-192 with just intake.
Does anyone have any 1/4 mile times with list of mods for 05's so I can get an Idea of what they are running. I'd go to CRSX but it is banned on my govt. computer.
Any thoughts or opinions on the matter?

The 05's are pretty quick with just your basic boltons, but if you are planning on making any sort of serious power, FWD isnt the platform.
Im selling my car within the next month as well, but I opted for the Turbo AWD route, aka WRX. Both are great cars, but I plan on getting into the 12's and that is a lot easier with the WRX then a RSX.
As for reliability, of course the NA is going to be the winner, but any car that is properly taken care of will have no major issues for a long time.

Base wrx was my other option(Can't afford STI), but I've heard that they don't hold up very well to repeated hard launches. Maybe I have been missinformed. Other reasons for the RSX. More luxury, looks a hell of a lot better, Top end and top speed is killer on the highway, 1k cheaper/better resale, 4yr warranty. Disadvatange like you said fwd and slower in stock form. I'm not looking to be the fastest out there, it can never be. I just want reliable HP capable of putting down some descent #'s in the 1/4. I also thought about the Mustang GT but the value of domestic cars are ****. Performance wise they are pretty bad *** though. If I can make the RSX capable of hanging with a stock 05GT with a few simple bolt-ons I will be happy........for now.
But AWD is a killer in the 1/4 so I can't hate you for that. Good luck.

No you are right about the WRX when it comes to launches. They are not built for repeated hard launches, but you can still get on them off the line pretty hard. Dropping the clutch is what kills them, instead of the tires taking the brunt of the punishment like a fwd or rwd, the driveline and tranny take the beating. I dont plan on dragging a lot anyway, just looking to embarass some people at stoplights and AWD is the way to go for that.
Also the reponse of the 2.0 turbo motor to mods is amazing. For under $1k in mods, you can pick up another 40-50hp over stock and hang with an STi on the straights.
Looks are all a matter of opinion and taste, I happen to think the wrx is the better looking of the two, but that just my opinion.
Although I am jealous of that 8500+ redline hondata throws up.

stick to type-s, na is best. the hard launches from a awd car are bad because of nofirends said, thats why their made for top speed highway runs than dead stop drag. if you do drag, then ease into second and go nuts then on thats the trick the ams people in chi town uses for their evos.
yeh... I came extremely close to getting an 05 type s myself but with a crazy turn of events I was given a z31 (85 300zx turbo) for free and will be putting a few grand into it to get it going. Its gonna be a great project car for me, especially being stock turbo and RWD i already have a good base. Anyways back to your topic, yeh if you're looking for a drag car then i don't know if I'd go with any fwd car IMO. For a nice drag car i'd look into some z32's maybe. But if you're looking for a quick highway car that looks good then the RSX is a great choice.

I'm not looking for an all out drag car and I'm not buying it just for 1/4 mile times. I just want a nice reliable car that looks good and can pull some good times on the weekends at the track as well as on the street. Plus the fact that I am probally going to be single again in the near future I'd like to have a nice hot ride with some nice plush leather for the ladies.
the o5 type-s is nice, but the wrong car to use, it's more of highway car intill you come across that reflashed (cobb) wrx on the highway, and than ull think again about wrx not having top end. RSX-s has it's fair share of problems like the wrx, the transmissions and syncros on those cars are weak as hell, might wanna peep crsx first. It's a great car, but alot of guys who go rsx end going turbo soon after, so if i was you skip the middle car, GO TURBO... wrx.
I wish i skip the ralliart and just jump to the evo, which i will be in oct. Cutting 1.8 60's are fun, when you use all 4 tires... and not DR's.

Stock 1/4's are around 15.0, but many have hit around 14.8 or so with a stock 05.
As you know, slightly shorter final drive, ITR camshafts, and better cat-back exhaust. Stock dynos are around the 180 range, where stock pre-05s were around 170-175.
I'll be getting one in a few weeks as well. Just have to get a job and a good deal.

And I think once the Si comes out, RSX will become dirt cheap. From what I heard both will be produced in 2006, so that's the year to buy

hahaha, my 4x4 truck has a 33% power loss.
