My Manual EX vs. Auto V6 Camaro
So, on my way home from eating Jack in the Box with some friends, I was heading down Paseo de Valencia in Laguna Hills looking for some fun [I recently got my Civic back]. I first ran into an 02 Auto LX Civic with exhaust, but he just dashed into a small side street after weaving around traffic like a true ricer
.
Next up was an older eclipse with a beautiful, monsterous wing on the back, along with fart can exhaust, but he also ditched the main road before I could get next to him.
Finally, as I was coming down Aliso Creek and approaching Alicia [where I would have to turn right], I saw a late model Camaro sitting at a light. As he started to drive, his exhaust roared, and I must say, the lip kit it had was pretty clean. The driver of the purple Camaro was a pretty young guy, and his passenger likewise young and hip. Before turning onto Alicia, I noticed the driver eyeing my Civic in his passenger mirror, and to my luck he turned with me onto the 50 mph street. I was stuck behind traffic for a bit at the turn, though, but eventually, I caught up to him and we lined up at a light [Highlands and Alicia], with me in the right lane, and him in the middle.
Before we could stop, however, the light turned green, so I just started pushing in 2nd a bit, but not so much as to look like a fool if he didn't follow suit...
...but he did follow suit, and at the end of 2nd I was pounding the gas. He was behind me, with his front bumper at my quarter panel. A slight left curve was approaching, and that gained him some distance up to the back of my coupe door at the end of third. Fourth gear, I held him off at the door, until about 110, where we shut down and glided to a halt at the red light behind some traffic.
I was expecting some muscle car, import haters, yet as I pulled up next the guys with my window down, and their targa top was down, they both looked me and asked, "What do you have in there?!!
." I smiled bashfully and said, "nothing really. Just intake and exhaust. Your car is auto, right?" The guy said that it was, and when I asked if it was the V8, of course he said it was the 6 cylinder model. I told him mine was stick, and he was like, "wow, you shift really well." I said, thanks, and we parted on the note that he was planning on trading his car in for an 05 GT Mustang. I advised him to get it in stick, and he agreed.
Anyways, so yeah. Haven't had a kill, or any competition for that matter, in quite a while. I felt pretty good beating a Camaro, too, so
