Ex Manual vs. Last generation Prelude [it got ugly]

Yesterday, I was heading toward a park to help out in a monthly "Kid's Day" my church holds for special needs kids. It was about 1 pm on a sunny day, and I was late, thanks to Back to the Future 2 being on TV. It gave me good reason to drive a little quicker.

Anyways, I was driving about 60 mph in a 50 zone when this late generation prelude [which I absolutely love ] comes flying by me; I think he was even trying to show off a bit. It looked stock, maybe an intake. The driver started pulling ricer stunts, which I think are retarded , but I maintained my distance and speed. He was revving at almost every light, even if he was behind other cars .

I decided to start following the prelude a bit through traffic, although I knew I would get owned by it if I tried to pull. Finally, it was open road and I just lined up next to him in third gear, at about 60 mph. I knew the car was faster, but I was wondering if the guy could even drive [he wasn't shifting very well while I was following him].

I think I mashed the gas first, but he followed suit right away. Third gear up to 80 mph and his front bumper was only at my fender. There was a problem, though-- I didn't hear his vtec engage. Fourth gear, now, and we were heading up to 95 mph when he decided to rev it up all the way and show me what real vtec sounds like. I couldn't help but smile as he flew past me when we hit 100mph, and then shut down.

I tried to pull up next him again and give him a thumbs up, but the stupid ricer just kept speeding around slow moving traffic . He got on the freeway onramp and tried to outrun me, but thanks to my beautiful type S sway, I kept up . On the actual freeway, though, he pulled some stupid stunts, preventing me from catching him before my exit .

Let's just say that it's more fun getting on and off freeways than it is speeding on the actual freeways. Think about it, our civics are slow in a straight line...

I am just finishing tuning my well chosen suspension setup and every alignment change I make, I love it even more. Suspension mods are the best mods for our cars, but you have to do it right with alot of trial and error.

Last generation as in 5thgeneration? All models were VTEC, even the autos.
Gotta be careful man... trying to follow an a-hole driver would make you look like an a-hole to to other drivers. And who knows what stupid things they can pull.........

Yeah, I agree. Thanks for the advice. The only justification I had to actually pull up next to him was that we both outran a yellow light, in separate lanes, so there were no cars near us whatsoever [the road was a wide and long stretch--easy to spot upcoming traffic]. I think I earned the title "Ricer" for this race .
