Pull the valve cover, and you'll see all of your valves. There is a retaining nut at the top to hold the gap. Loosen it. Slide your feeler gauge under it to the recommended gap. Tighten the nut. Recheck. I have the entire chapter from the Honda Service manual still for the head. You can borrow it if you want. There isn't a hot/cold adjustment so you only need to do it once.

If your valves aren't noisy, don't mess with them, just because you have high mileage don't think this needs done. If you check your owners manual it says CHECK valves, and unless you notice them being noisy, don't bother.
IF you guys really want to though, here are some more tips:
1. make sure the engine is cold, I usually let the car set over night to ensure the entire engine is cool.
2. GET THE TORQUE SPECS FOR THE VALVE COVER. I forgot this one once, in about 5k my cam baring went bad because I didn't load them properly by not tightening down valve cover bolts properly. This will require you to have a torque wrench; sorry, but I don't the numbers for the D17, only the D16.
