Fram Oil Filters?

OK, so I was looking thru the parts store and I couldn't find a Fram oil filter for our cars. Even as I look in the Fram book, out cars had nothing under the filter. Can I still use the standard PH-3593? That's what previous year Civics use. I was just wondering. I went out and got 4 Honda filters, good enough for about 7-8 months. Let me know if they do have a filter for our cars.

From what a buddy of mine told me was that AC Delco oil filters are the best, Fram comes in 6th because although it "flows" better, it sucks at filtration. He told me this after I put a Fram on.

Don't use the 3593. I ran into the same problem. Every Honda ever made, it seems like, has used the same filter except ours. If you don't want to buy a filter from the dealer like I do, last time I changed my oil (the first time I cahnged it), I saw Purolator has one but, if my memory is correct, it was different from the one other Honda's used. Check it out yourself if your not sure....but I would recommend getting one from the dealer.

its funny you should mention FRAM filters. a body repair person i know had his NAPA sales person bring up some oil filters comparing whats inside. the fram filter was actually one of the poorest ive seen. its a paper filter and its not woven very tightly. neither is that desucht brand. the napa gold were really nice. id stick to a Honda OEM if i was you. just my 2 cents

fram is one of the worst filters you can buy.
WIX makes the best filters out there and they even make all the oil filters used on winston cup nascars. Both NAPA and CARQUEST have all their filters made by WIX. K&N and PUROLATOR are the next best to WIX.

no it's the same number it's just the prefix. all the 7317 filters will fit if you want doubleguard i think it's XG7317, and if you want normal it's PH7317 etc etc
just as long as the suffix is 7317

Just for reference gents ... when I removed my original factory Honda filter, I noticed it said "Manufactured by Fram" on the rim. Fram's filters are ok, but personally, I would not use them. I think their filter elements are pretty cheap.

I just finished researching several filter brands. My choice was the Amsoil Super Duty filter (SDF20) for my 02 EX coupe. I use it along with their XL-7500 full Synthetic 5W-20 oil. This combination is good for 7500 miles or 6 months, although I'll change it at 5000 miles. The rep gave me the figures, but I can't recall the exact number ... I believe he said the filter screens down to 20 or 30 microns. The filter was about $11.40 but I think it is well worth it.

There are also other quality options out there, but I wouldn't classify Fram as one of them.
