Exclamation Best VIPER alarm out there.. 791xv or something else?

ive been searching a lot and reading a lot of the old threads and everyone seems to think that viper is the way to go.
but im wondering what is the very top of the line viper model? i cant find a site for viper and because everyone sells the models at different prices its hard info to find.
so whats the best viper alarm? and is there any other alarm you would recomend over the 791 XV ?

thankyou

791XV is the best alarm/starter combo. 690XV would be their best alarm.

I like compustar myself. Mostly because they are designed to work with manual trannys

www.viper.com

there will be a better alarm comin out, i heard in summer 05, clifford advant guard 5.5x. its made by DEI, same comp making vipers from now on. it has dot matrix screen remote, technically speakin the pics has motions. search on yahoo for CES clifford. the clifford will be on top of the game, steppin up to Spread Spectrum (compustar first one to obtain this technology) which improves the range.

www.clifford.com they make DE and VIper. I used to sell them both at Best Buy. I have the Clifford 2way pager/ starter system. And for the guy that said compustar is better for manuals. it doesnt matter, all u have to do is get a clutch bypass and hook it up to the E-Brake

its obvious that youre not an installer, plz do not advice or incourage ppl use a non-MT RS to use it on their AT cars, there are risks involve. the new advant guard will come w/ Rs thats compatible w/ MT cars. also, the older clifford intellistart also MT friendly.

for the record, DEI (directed electronics) make Viper and bought out clifford a few yrs back, so DEI design clifford products now. clifford products used to be horrible for installation purposes, its prolly one of the worst diagram and color coded there was.

Sometimes I to make the mistake of confusing the words "better" and "designed". Actually, no wait, can't say I've ever done that. I really hope you were drinking when you posted that cause at least you would have an excuse.

How far is the range on this thing? I tried searching for it, and it just says it uses "hi-frequencey" to signal the pager. However, does anyone know how far does the signal actually reach?

791XV I remember hearing 1/4 mile range...I've never gotten the full range out of it because I won't start my car from that far out.

I remember seeing pagers that had a 1 mile to 1/2 a mile range. Meaning, if you are within 1/2-1mile away, if anything happened to your car, the alarm would notify you. Im not talking about the remote starter. Im talking about the connection the pager has with the alarm. Like, how far can the pager be, and still have connectivity to notify the person if the car is being broken in to.

The range is awesome. REMEMBER: Your car may remote start even if you cant get a signal back comfirming it. Holding down buttons for about 5 seconds usually does the trick is your parked in tricky places like concrete parking garage a few floors up.

Good info to have but nonapplicable to me, unfortunately - I shuttle bus in from a lot to go to work, plus working in a hotel sometimes plays hell with radio and cell signals.

Just an FYI - Holding your remote to the bottom of your chin will increase it's range to the vehicle. Try it in an experiment if you want. Walk away from your car til your remote stops working. Walk a few more feet and try it to you chin. It works.

I just got a new 791x off ebay for 200 shipped....you still need the transponder for like 30 on top of that. If anyone knows how to make the remote start work with a MT you should PM me, it would be a nice thing for winter in MI. Best Buy is a rip off to 500 installed...can't imagine payin that much even if it s installed. Chances are almost evryone has or knows someone that can get it done for next to nothn!!!
