What is fuel relay?

Folks

Can anybody tell me what is a fuel relay? I have a 2004 Civic 1.7 which is showing intermittent drop in rpm during idle (700rpm -> 500rpm). Someone told me that it could be due to fuel relay, but I'm not sure. Can this be the case?

I believe he is referring to a fuel pump relay. This will not cause your car's engine speed to drop when it fails. It will either cause your car to not start or stall after starting if in fact the fuel pump relay is bad.

First thing i would do is check the TPS (throttle position sensor). It should be putting out less than 1 volt at idle about 4.7-4.99 volts at full throttle.
