California emission law??

Well I have a 91 Mustang 5.0 and I have equal length headers and a American Thunder catback(Flowmasters) Im going to put a Off Road H pipe on there to replace my cat's. Anyone know how much it is if you get caught without Cat's in Cali or how loud your car can be?? Thankz.

the penalty would probably be high. My tint ticket was $130 so i'm guess you cat one would be way higher.

if you're running a domestic car, then you don't have anything to worry about from cops.

as for how loud your car can be, i believe in california, the limit is 95 dB ? not sure on that one either.

Who's going to do the H-pipe?? Any shop that removes the cat on a vehicle is asking for trouble from BAR. What's is it worth to you?? I've had people I don't even know ask me to 'help' their car pass. No F*****g way. It is not worth it, as far as I am concerned.

As far as the sound thing goes, it is 95db, but a cop can still write you a ticket without having a db meter...it's the officer's opinion that counts aas far as the ticket goes, but you may be able to go in and get it checked over and signed off if it is under 95db's. However, I have no idea what the fine is for having no cats.

an off road H is a simple bolt on...
as for fines, i wouldn't worry. there is some EPA fine for repeat offendors but i have never heard of anyone getting one.
i had a 10.5:1 comp 306 in my stang with full lengths, o/r H, and dumped flows. never had a cop look under the car for cats and i had gotten six $80 equip. violations for "noise pollution." they never mentioned cats. i just show them my inspection printout and fake emissions slip.
