how much hp would you gain if you were to get the civic turboed? cause my friend has a 2000 civic si MT and is saving up to get turbo. he's thinking it'll cost him about $6k. is that reasonable price?

Si's respond a lot better to turbo's than D-series engines. I'd say easily over 60hp gain and you can get a lot more if it is tuned well.
$6k does that include the install?

too many factors play a part in the result. depends on what size turbo, how much psi ran on the turbo, will he build the motor? if your looking for a an answer i guesstimate 200 hp. how about you try searching google for some boosted si and see what they have to show?

wow...i don't think he's going to build the motor. and i think the $6k includes the install...we know a small import shop (TruMotors) down here in indiana, so i guess they gonna help him out with it.

6k!!! lol i think thats a rip off, hes better off doing a swap. my kit is costing me a total of 1300. that is just strictly for parts. getting the exhaust manifold made. no charge for labor. etc etc. and this is for the d17. my friend has his one shop and my car is the flag ship/project car. all i need to do is buy the parts and promote his shop so im making away like a bandit =)
if it is the 99-00 si then he has many great kits to chose from. And 6000 isnt always a rip off. Look at the full-race turbo kits..... might be expensive but you get what you pay for. And usually when u buy a kit around 3,000-4,000 u still have to get it tuned and maybe do internals. Also he doesnt need to do a swap when he has a b16a already

there was a customer at the SF shop with a 99 Si who was running at 10 psi on stock internals and alcohol. He was dead even with a Ferrari 360 Modena on the freeway from 60-155 ... then the Ferrari pulled ... only because he hit the limiter at 8000 rpms in 5th gear.
^the civic si's are great cars and reasonable worth investing into.
what kit is your friend with the 00 si getting? 6k does seem a lot and im hoping its a complete set-up w/labor cost. as for horsepower numbers, about 40% improvement. ask your buddy what kit hes gonna be installing
