Question Subwoofer setup wires?

OK, So Ive got 2 lightning audio subwoofers(4 ohms each, 300 watt max each) and a Jensen 340Watt power amp. Ive got the subs wired to the poweramp, the aftermarket headunit all wiredup with the RCA cables running to the power amp, ground is done, and wire from battery to power amp. ALL WIRES ARE 18G ROCKFORDfOSGATE SOUND WIRE?? Doesnt seem right to use for battery to power amp.(bro did all/most wiring) can anyone give me a list of the wires/gauges of **** i need?

18 gauge is very thin, and won't carry the current to power two subs, let alone 1. While I don't know the 'dangers' of using to thin a wire, I do know that it won't function properly. 18 guage wire is used to hook up the head unit to the amp to let it know when to power on (extremely small current). Hell, I bet the RCA's could carry more power.

ebay

This is the first one I looked at. It uses 8 guage wire from the Amp to the Battery. You also should have a fuse. A kit at Best Buy or what have you will cost some change, but IMO is worth it compared to the setup you have now.

Oh yeah, 18 guage won't be good to use for a ground or amp to subs wire. Get something thicker.

an 8 gauge wire should do it just fine for ya. check out crutchfield.com, they have a thing that will tell you what gauge you need.
