well first you need to find out if that is even the problem, next if it is, then you need to price the part, then call around and ask for install prices.
And yes you can replace it, you can replace anything yourself, as long as you know what your doing.

I believe you have to replace the whole track assembly because the motor is intigrated into it. They're all different depending on the make, year and model so find out before you go and take things apart. As far as replacing it, like mentioned above make sure it is the motor and not a switch, fuse, bad connection, etc. etc.
To replace it you need to remove the door panel and some other hardware. I know that on some of the assemblies I've replaced you need to drill and grind out the rivits, which are much bigger than normal. Then you need a huge rivit gun to pop the new ones back in. Its not something you should learn on your own, because there's many little "tricks" to learn, but if you are going to do it buy a manual and read the instructions over and over again before you attempt it. In situations like this, I'd pay a rep. professional to do it. By the time you are done with this, it will probably cost you not much more to have someone do it for you hence they have the right tools.
