My car not the same car it was 34,000 miles ago...

When I got my 03 Civic EX, it was nicely built. No rattles, no wind noise, smooth ride, smooth clutch, smooth engine, great. Now everthing rattles, wind/road noise up the ***, chattery front suspension, uneven power delivery, slipping clutch (replaced at 30,000miles). Is this car made to crap out at 30K? All this pretty much happened at once. Just needed to vent after hearing some new rattles today...

I can't wait till this thing is paid off.

what do you expect a car to do as it ages? stay the same as the day you bought it?

The parts on the car are aging. as it gets older, parts start to go bad and make noise. Thats how all cars work.

And like I tell everyone else, if you have all those rattles, wind noise, suspension noise, just turn up the radio and keep driving.

Funny, my 20 year old Nissan truck does not have a single rattle yet! And it still runs great! AND it still has it's original clutch! AND it has 160,000 miles on it!

Hmmmm.....

And my 82 Accord had no rattles at 140,000 miles, AND still runs today, AND is an auto, AND has had no major parts replaced besides one alternator, and 2 waterpumps.
AND none of those cars bounce all over the place when taking the smallest speed bump.

Naaa...... the 7th gens are just built cheap. Sorry.
I like mine, but I don't expect it to outlast my Nissan Truck.
Pity I gave the Accord away. Had I KNOWN, I would have kept it and NOT bought the civic.

My next honda? Old CRX, baby!!

My dad's old (at the time) 15 year old Nissan also didnt rattle except for 1 door that was in an accident.
My clutch slips on quick shifts from 1-2 and 2-3. My dash rattles, gas milleage is going down (didnt get past 36 this year), rear suspension makes this popping noise once in a while..... and some more stuff. My brother's 93 Civic doesnt even rattle as much!

I don't know what your dealer's problem is, but rattles ARE covered by warranty. I know because I have had 3 different rattles taken care of. They just replaced the panel in question. Tell your dealer that rattling is not normal operation, and it is coverend under warranty. Make them call Honda. IT IS COVERED.

I dont have many rattles, and my car drives the same. Replace your air filter, and spark plugs and it will drive like a new car. I love changing mine, since it drives so much nicer afterwards. Every 30,000 mi you should change those anyways. My door locks rattle like hell, but I solved that by placing some of that white soft kind of tape that comes in a snail looking dispenser where you cut it by sliding the top into the tape. Anybody know what the hell im talking about?? Oh well, I placed tape so it is low enough to not see it at all, but doesnt let the lock vibrate against the door panel - problem fixed. the rear deck lid thing vibrated like hell, but I took that off, and glued polyfill all under there, and placed some black weather stripping along the sides - problem fixed. I put some black rubber flooring under every panel in my car - problem fixed. Now my roof is buggin the hell out of me. there are lots of rattles in our cars, you just have to find them. I also turn my radio over them, but I hate when the bass make more rattles. the trunk lock rattles like hell with bass, but I shoved polyfill in there and it stopped. my rear view mirror I can not figure out how to stop rattling. New mirror? my car was totally silent until I put tokicos on my car. The stiff suspension rattled everything back to crap. Good luck fixing everything. Just learn to ignore, and take proper maintenance to keep your car running like new. Dont race everywhere either.

I know I'm probably the cause of some rattles. After removing jusr about every interior panel to do the rear deck speakers, I kinda farked up some clips. I'm going to go to a dealer, get a bunch of new clips, and hope it helps tighten down some panels.

My car rattles like crazy too, and a lot of the parts were obviously designed with low price as the focus. I just hope it doesn't cost me a mountain of cash to keep on the road, I don't want to get into a car payment for a long time... that's why I bought this thing in the first place.

Titleist71 can only hope to improve
Remember that if you live in a cold area.....Maine here, especially during the winter you will have more creaking and cracking sounds. When it's warm, panels flex more and creak less.

^ yep

coupes have more plastic in them than sedans as well - more panels to creak. And if you fark up the clips when working with those panels, EXPECT it.
