car shakes at high speeds

Just noticed on a long trip over like 60 mph my car shakes like i feel it on the steering wheel shaking and once i get up to like 75 80 damn it shakes like no other, I just got an exhaust and new cat put on not too long ago, could it be the exhaust is loose or something? And I just recently had new brakes, tire rotation and wheel alignment done few weeks ago. What's the problem?

When my car does that it's because of the little bumps in the highway. Maybe it's your suspension getting older? Could it be your 18" rims and lowered suspension causing you to feel every single little bump in the road?

I had the same problem, but it went away when I got new tires to replace crappy firestones. Just the tire change fixed it, even before an alignment.

Could it be as simple as the tires needing to be balanced or the need for an alignment?

Take it back to the shop that did the work; sounds like they didn't balance them correctly, make sure they use a differnet tire balancer because some don't "spin up" fast enough. Its also possible that if they re-surfaced the rotors they might have gotten one or both of them out of round. That happens when the rotor isn't perfectly squared up on the brake lathe. I doubt thats the problem but I've seen first hand; it happens when the lathe operator gets a small piece of debris inside the rotor hub, and when the rotor is put on the lathe spindle its not perfectly squared up. Then the rotor is basically "re-surfaced out of round".

How long has this shaking been going on? Was it happening before you got the brakes and wheels worked on?

Ya it was actually worse before the brakes and wheel adjustments and it got a little better. Just noticed this about 3 weeks ago when I took my car on the highway. Before it would shake at like 50 now it shakes over 60.

Does it shake at all when you idle or at low speeds?

Sometimes it does shake at low speeds not till like 35-40mph but very little almost unnoticeable but once I go faster it gets worse

ditto. get your tires rebalanced and make sure your tires have correct PSI. Sometimes if you have uneven tire pressure, you will feel the shaking at moderate speed.

Bad alignment will never cause a vibration, it's in the tires, hubs, rotors, drive axles, and wheels.

Jeff B has a little shameless behaviour in the past
Flat spots on the tire can cause vibration too.
