Most say it's 70 or 80 actually. I'm more inclined to believe this little bugger is a 70A alt. Boo-urns.

I told you Megahurtz! Our alternators are weak and are 70 amp.

Pushing a huge system (above 1000 watts could do some damage in the future, or at least keep you changing out alternators regularly. cheaper to go HO.

Yeah, that's nice. Worth it if you have a huge amount of ICE in the car.
They basically rewind a stock alternator and put stronger diodes in it as well.
I wonder if the ecu would complain....

couldnt you just get a big alt out of a truck or SUV from a junkyard and fabricate something to hold it in place

Maybe someone should point out that IF you actually drew 170 Amps out of an aftermarket alternator in a civic, 2 things will happen.

1) At high current the alternator gets harder and harder to turn, bringing the engine horsepower down to what..... 45 HP? LOL.. Seriously, it WOULD pull hard on the motor.

2) The wires would melt, unless you upgrade all the major plus and ground lines.

A non-civic alternator may work, but because ours is regulated by the ECU, there's no telling what would happen.

Best bet is still an optima battery for most cases.
