Is turboing Turboing????

Just a question...
I met a guy at work who is almost finished a degree in mechanical engineering. He seems like a cool cat, and has an eclipse GTX running 20 PSI and has the management system running through his palm. So im like immediatly impressed in my nievity (is that a word), but anyways he says that he can help me put a turbo on, as well as tune it. Now i dont have a problem with him helping me, the car is almost paid for, its out of warranty so i figure why not let him help me. So what do you guys think? Would you do it or should I probably go to a professional shops. (BTW he says he'll help me out for something like 40 bucks an install, no matter what it is...)

I too am almost done with a mechanical engineering degree, you learn some sweet stuff but not necessarily about tuning cars. I would base your decision off if you think he has enough experience and did good work on his car. I'd say if hes got an impressive setup and it looks like he does quality work, then by all means, go for the turbo. Only thing I would be concerned with is the 40 bucks. This doesn't make much sense. If he was going to just help you out as a friend, you think it would be free (you provide a couple beers). Otherwise what is this 40 bucks going for? Why would he charge at all if hes only going to charge 40 dollars?

Ask him this, "Are you running your stock Garret T25 on 20psi?", and if he says yes, then NO don't let him touch your car, he's BSing you about knowing turbo

If he can run a 4G63 on 20psi without it being in the shop every other day...then i think he knows his stuff. Just do it yourself and have him there as guidance...it helps, thats how i did mine
