Radar speeding ticket without being pulled over?
Wondering if it is at all possible to get a speeding ticket (i.e. through the mail, etc.) if you were not pulled over physically by cop, by radar.
I was going south on Allen Road on the wkend coming home from Yorkdale, and there was a cop car parked on the left shoulder, with a cop pointing a radar at all the cars... I was probably doing 95km/h in an 80 zone, and cars all around braked like mad....
Should I be worried??
Do any of the radar guys even take a PICTURE of the car/license plate?? i.e. what the hell happens in a situation where a cop walks onto the street to pull you over for speeding, and you gun it, or U-turn? Yeah, I know Fast & Furious chase and a beat down Rodney-style if you get caught, but it would kinda make sense to have the hand-held radar guns to also take a pic???
Ask Narc, hes a cop.
Well for 95 in an 80 zone, thats no points, just a fine. However, 16 over the limit is points. so if ya did get a ticket and no points, just fight it in court
I doubt they had a radar AND a camera with them to get you, your speed, and your plates.
But it doesnt make sense to give points if they didnt pull you over simply because they dont know who was driving the car, and dont know who to assign the demerit points to. Could have been you driving, or anyone else you allowed to drive the car, regardless of if they are under the insurance or not. So i HIGHLY doubt anything will happen, but speak to Narc to get a more solid answer.

I flew by a radar setup here in sauga, totally didn't see it, was around 20 over, definitely no less than that actually. No move was made to stop me, and they didn't even flinch. So unless that radar gun the cop was holding had some sort of autocamera, I'm in the clear.

They can't charge you without pulling you over, unless they setup those damn photo radars again on the 400-series.
That's why people were so against the photo radars, coz they'd be penalizing the owner of the car (in most cases your parents, lol) and not the actual driver.

Hey Furball...I'm working for Sureté du Québec (like your OPP) since 1995...and the answer is NO...don't worry...btw in Québec we begin to give tickets at 100 km/h in 70 km/h zone(and 105-110 in 80 zone)...and the identification of the offender(driver) is one of the 9 points that we have to proove in court so...no chance to have a ticket
Re: Radar speeding ticket without being pulled over?
coppers usually dont give out tickets for anything 15 and under...you dont have anything to worry about. they deffinitely would not come to your house to give you a speeding ticket for that amount. IF you were going 50+ over the limit and they got your pl,ate number they may show up at your door with a summons, but at that speed, they likely wouldnt see it!
