melted battery?

melted battery? i was installing my sri earlier today...i disconnected the negative battery terminal and left it lying around. i was unscrewing some screws when i knocked the negative wire back onto the terminal...i made some sparks and like melted part of the battery terminal. trying to AVOID this....i accidently did it again. now theres melted silver stuff that i scraped off and a chunk missing off of the battery terminal. any effects or ideas as to what might happen? i greatly appreciate it everyone.
