I'm gettng ready to put an D17 Vtec-E from an HX, in to my LX, does anyone know of anything extra Im going to need to make this motor work in my car that i dont already have stock? I heard something about having to run a Vtec wire, can anyone tell me about this and other stuff i need? And also Id like to know the difference between the EX Vtec and the HX Vtec-E? I know its lean burn, but im not sure what exactly this means and how its different from the EX.

why waste your time on this swap? all that work and you dont gain more than 5hp with the HX about. Jesus go guy a turbo dont waste your money on a clean burning engine.....
want to save the enviroment buy a d@mn Hybrid...

the HX is stronger than the LX
and you can only feel it with a vtec controller


just save for a turbo or swap

I could understand an LX to an EX.....and only if you are doing the labor yourself...I considered DX to EX because I would get about a 20 HP increase but I don't have the time to do it myself....Either way, good luck.

Yeah you can pick up an hx motor for like 650 believe me i just bought one today cause i blew mine the fug up.....and as far as i know the only thing you need to do is run the VTEC wire. I have an HX and that thing is weird but it souldnt be too much different fromthe lx.....oh and by the way i dont blame you for not going K series...I cant afford it either

yeah my DX cost me only 500 with tranny and all. everything i need except the wire harness. but im gonna just run the 4 wires that i need for the vtec and ****
