yea it's different. A Short Shifter (like the REVO) makes the shift throws shorter and the shifter short....cutting it just makes it short and no shorter throws.

you can hold it together by using some duct or electric tape, wrap it around the rod and just shove the **** over it.

ok, so technically then its not a "short shifter" that everyone comes to know of, but more of a shorter shift stick. Im definately not doing a half *** job that does nothing and going to get me a revo ss

what do you mean it "does nothing". I personally bought the revo, but i think cutting it would be a much cheaper way out with about hte same results.
I have a buddy that has a mustang that he cut the shft stick down on cuz his came up out of the boot, toward the back of the car, then back up. He cut it down to right above the boot and it shortened his throw alot. And all he spent was a few bucks

i cut mine years ago and welded the threads back on. two cuts, losing jsut shy of two inches from the center of the stick.

shifting feels great, and its been years and holding great.
