Removiing the torsion bars

I found that rattling in my trunk are due to the bars that run across the trunk, under the speakers. I believe these are the torsion bars. Well HOW DO YOU REMOVE THEM? I saw that in the DIY: Trunk shocks, he says they're removed, but doesn't say how. But in the pics, the bars r still there. a brother out.

thanks

start by removing the plastic clip in the center. its got a latch that flips up, then you cna free the bars. then twist the clip a quarter turn and it comes right off.

now to get the bar out. grab a breaker bar or any long piece of steel or anything rigid, and wedge it between the curved part of the torsion bar. you can use this to twist the torsion bar simulating the trunk closing or opening, without actually moving the trunk lid. this way, you can release the pressure its putting on the trunk lid, and slip it out of the holes there.

now dont release the pressure all at once! its got some energy stored up in that piece twisted as it is!

let it lose slowly, an ditll just fall out on the other side of the trunk.

repeat for the otherside.

follow in reverse to reinstall them.

ALright, Oh, Can i go without them? The only thing that'll happen is, the trunk won't open normal? I will have to hold it or what?
