the driver side (left) is lower than the passenger side (left)

I don't know why.... I noticed that the driver side (left front) is lower than the passenger side (right front).. I checked the fender gap... atleast .5" difference... what's up with this? the rear is fine.. I'm just worried about the front side.. is it heavier on driver side? coz of the engine is kindah on the left side (driver side) or what? can anybody help me on this...

do you have aftermarket springs? if you didnt change your shocks then they might be blown.

did you measure it while it was parked in the street? I'm thinking that the crown of the road might be affecting it

what I meant was.. do I have to get a new one ASAP!? is it dangerous to drive on a blown shock?.. I am still wondering... my car is only 1.3" dropped.. why is it gonna blow that fast.. I just installed my springs in December...

edited: they said if your shock is blown.. you car is gonna be bouncy.. mine is not.. so you think its my shock still that is blown?

my rear passenger sits lower than the other ones. i have no idea why. and i don't believe its blown, b/c when i press down on the corner, it pops right back up within one oscilation (sp?). but when i do go and press down on it, it doesnt have much room to travel. i have about a 2" drop, but the rear passenger is more like 2.25" ... any ideas?

The Driver side is heavier than the passenger side. Look at Hondas service bulletins. You have all the pedals, steering wheel, gauge cluster, not to mention the brake booster and master cylinder. So naturally its heavier. Honda tried to compensate my making the driver spring a little longer but after market sprin companies do not therefore you notice it a little more than a person with stock springs would. I still noticed it a bit with my stock springs on.

yes, it doesnt matter if your car is only dropped 1.3''. aftermarket springs put a lot of stress on the factory shock absorber. believe me, my friend got the same drop on his car and his shocks went out within 3 months. its not seriously dangerous but i'd look into replacing it because it can affect your handling.

I seriously doubt its his strut(Hondas dont use shocks). Check the Service Bulletins you will see that I am right.

hmmm.. I will try to check if the stock spring on the driver side is longer than the passenger side? maybe you're right DestnationUnkwn and maybe you're also right Da1lyDr1ver... I don't know.. but I don't have a leak on my shock though? they say your shock is blown if you car is getting bouncy and the shock has an oil leak...? I still don't know

by the way, where do I find that service bulletin?

DestnationUnkwn, are you absolutly sure that our civics dont use shock abosorbers? i'm pretty damn sure they do.

listen, i'm just trying to help you guys out here. i'm just saying that my friend also lowered his car with 1.3'' H&R lowering springs without buying aftermarket shocks and they blew out in 3 months. and when they blew out one side was lower than the other and when the other side blew out, then the car was even again.

I will just wait till the other side blow out.. LOL so they're even... I think it sill depends on driving condition right? hmm.. there might be a possibility my shock is blown (hopefully not though!!! knock-on-wood).. coz there was this really really really big and deep pothole at gas station.. I was 10-15mph.. and damn, it was like I got hit underneath by another car.. and there are many times like this too... and the worst when I drove to oakland and the road was like ***! I was running 30mph in 40mph zone.. there's no words can explain how bad the road there.. it's like hell!

anyway, hopefully my shock is not blown!! but it is not leaking!? or not bouncy? like I said..

My driver's side was SO much lower than the passenger side when my springs started to settle. For some reason after my rear strut bar and TypeR sway conversion, it's almost even. Still a little tiny bit lower though. WHen I get my coilovers I will compensate for this using the height adjustability.

Mine sits a wee bit lower on the driver side and I dont have a blown shock nor do I have aftermarket shocks. I checked tire pressures etc but not sure why its like that.

Our cars use McPherson struts in front and shocks in the rear.

For the left side being lower, read the last page of this TSB from Honda:

http://www.nhtsa.com/TSBScans/sb626720-sb626858.pdf

It says:

"Most left-hand drive models sold in the U. S. are heavier on the left side than the right, so they tend to lean to the left when viewed from the rear. Since 1996, many models have been built with longer damper springs on the left side to counteract this tendency."

So yeah a little bit of leaning to the left is normal. I noticed this the first time I parked my car in the garage.

you probably need new struts in the front. my 01 is in the shop right now getting new ones put on the ride was bouncy and the steering wheel shook like crazy at 60. went to get the camber done and come to find out both front struts had cracks thru them and all the fluid had ran out. might want to get them looked at. btw where did you get your side graphics

It seems like most of us.. or maybe all of us here. have the same problem...

autobots,

I checked my shock/s.. no leak? my ride is not bouncy.. and my steering don't shake.. it used too when I got the rimgs though.. but the tire pressure wasn't balance that's why.. after that, it don't shake nomore... I read the link that flotsomm gave.. "Most left-hand drive models sold in the U. S. are heavier on the left side than the right..." so thanks flotsomm! now I'm all calm now LOL.. and it seems like most of us here.. have the same issue.. it is the car... left side is heavier... like what said.. coz of the steering wheel, pedals, engine kindah on the left side.. and other **** hehe...

SO! since the left side is heavier.. should I add more tire pressue on the left too!? coz I have 215/35 on my 18s and the tires on the left side looks like flat! I almost don't see the rubber anymore.. I checked the tire pressure. . they all have the same pressure.... should I add pressure to it? my tire pressure right now is 35psi....
