Tranny overhaul?

alrighty, so i am planning on doing a n/a d17 automatic and pretty much i was wondering, if i am running about 200-250hp would the stock axles be able to handle that? or would they snap? recommended to have some custom made? also, would i have to overhaul the tranny and maybe get a new torque convertor? oh and if i were to bump my compression up to about 12:1 would i have to resleeve the block just to make sure nothing cracks? and yes i know i am crazy to n/a a d17 especially with an automatic, but hey, i think itll be fun to do something no one has tried yet .

200-250hp N/A? what do you know that i dont?
your axles should be fine. i think a overhaul kit and torque converter would be a good idea. JMO is the only company i know of that will work on our T/C's but i hear their price is pretty high ($800+). TCI has overhaul kits out for us, i emailed them today asking for a price on the "racing" and "master racing" kits, i'll let you know when they let me know.

N/A = naturally aspirated ie: no turbo/supercharger, just a high compression, high revving engine, usually with pretty aggresive cams and a P&P-ed head, etc etc.

coo, thanks for response. what about resleeving the block if i want 12:1+ compression? and what about blueprinting/balancing an engine and getting lighter parts? does it actually help? how should i do this since i know i have to send in the entire engine to have blueprinting/balancing done, should i just go to a shop by my house and tell them that i want to get lighter crank/rods/pistons (w/high compression) and valves/springs and cam, and theyll just do it? or should i buy that parts and then bring it all in, how is balancing/blueprint actually done? or would it actually be better for me to keep the stock crank/rods because ive heard they are actually forged? oh and just how much does it cost to have someone balance/blueprint an engine? and does it actually help? sry for all teh questions, just want to figure out exactly what ill be doing to my car before i actually start doing it.

I hate to break it to you, BUT 200-250 Wheel HP NA on a D17 is pretty unacheivable..
A almost fully worked Type R motor could practically hit that mark...

hwoody, before you post plz know what you posting about. a person on here has actually built a d17 up to about 250hp. and a type r motor just barely reaching 250 n/a? wtf you talking about. type-r motors can pull 11 second quarters if built right, so they have way more then 250, and really i was never asking if it was possible or not, i started this thread to find out if i would need to reinforce some parts of the drivetrain.

run over to the www.teamintegra.com forums...you'll find everything you're looking for. By the way there is a guy in Raleigh with a N/a GS-R running 238whp...its really not that unachievable. You have to have the right parts...its all about money, not about factory...

I know there are 250 HP NA Type R's, but it's pretty damn hard is what I'm saying.

Like you said, that Integra with 238HP, you only named one...and show me his mod list it must be huge, and that's a B18 not a D17 see where I'm getting at?

yea i gotcha...but yes it can be done, like i said with $$$$$$ the easiest wayno doubt would be FI but let him do what he wants, its his cash and his car, if he wants to be unique...i cant hate on anyone for doing that...

as far as that GS-R his motor is fully rebuilt, titanium springs, retainers, 11:1 ITR pistons, JE rods, PnP head, every MSD ignition piece you could think of, ecu piggyback, bla bla...yes the list is long, but its a fast fricken car
